Police services agreement for the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority and the City of Redmond
OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
recommendation
Police staff is seeking Council’s authorization to enter into an interlocal agreement (ILA) with Sound Transit to staff the light-rail stations in the City of Redmond with uniformed police officers.
Redmond officers have been staffing the Overlake and Technology light-rail stations during peak commute hours since the 2-line became operational on April 27, 2024. With this ILA, the City of Redmond will invoice Sound Transit for the hours dedicated to providing a uniformed presence at the stations from the opening of the line and into the future. In consideration of the services provided by Redmond Police Officers, Sound Transit agrees to pay $168.50 per hour to account for the basic wage and all indirect expenses. Through this ILA, Sound Transit agrees to pay no more than $250,000 per year.
