OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Data and information regarding the Mayor’s salary was reviewed at two Study Sessions in March and April 2023 to assist Council in determining whether a change will be made to the Mayor’s salary. Council decided that the Mayor’s salary will be increased from $145,000 annually to $170,000 annually effective January 1, 2024 and remain at that amount during 2024 and 2025. They also decided that the Mayor’s salary will be increased from $170,000 annually to $175,000 annually beginning January 1, 2026, and will remain at that level until Council approves a change. They also determined that the Mayor’s car allowance will be maintained at $500 per month. Council requested that the next review of the Mayor’s salary occur in 2026 in preparation for the 2027-2028 budget.

• Relevant Plans/Policies:
Council approved Ordinance 2967 on May 7, 2019, setting the salary of the Mayor at $145,000 annually effective January 1, 2020, and maintaining a monthly car allowance of $500.
• Required:
Ordinance 2262 in 2005 removed the Mayor’s salary from jurisdiction of the Redmond Salary Commission to have Mayor pay set by Council.
