OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

City staff is seeking approval from City Council to authorize the Mayor to accept a SEEK Grant Contract in the amount of $47,420.00 to fund the Explore Redmond Summer Camp. These funds are provided by the Washington Recreation & Park Association (WRPA), in collaboration with the Association of Washington Cities (AWC). This program is administered by AWC and made possible by funds provided to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

OUTCOMES:
Recreation programs and projects enhance livability in Redmond and contribute to making Redmond a great place to live, work, play and invest. The SEEK Grant will fund the Explore Redmond Summer Camp, which provides a low-cost, full-day, 8-week summer camp experience to youth living in Avon Villa, a low-income mobile home park in Redmond.

Total camp expenses are projected at $51,260 and the grant award is for $47,420. The difference of $3,840 would be funded by Explore Redmond camper registration fees ($20 per camper) that would come from the RAF (Recreation Activity Fund).

Acceptance preferred within two weeks of notification which occurred 1/27/22. We have requested an extension allowing time for City Council approval on 3/1/22.
