OUTCOMES:
This interlocal agreement transfers the authority to conduct annual inspections for code compliance and preplanning within the jurisdictional boundaries of King County Fire District 34. Inspections within the Fire District reduce the risk to responders and businesses, increase safety and are in line with the Department’s Standards of Cover.

Time Constraints:
Current ILA expires on October 27, 2026, failure to complete the renewal prior to this day will cause a delay in scheduled inspections until the effective date of the successor agreement.
ANTICIPATED RESULT IF NOT APPROVED:
If the proposed interlocal agreement is not approved, the authority for Redmond Fire to conduct inspections will revert to the King County Fire Marshals office. Historically, the number and frequency of annual inspections completed by the County has been less than completed by Redmond Fire. The inability to inspect for code compliance and pre-planning will decrease the knowledge level of existing buildings and hazards in Fire District 34.
