OUTCOMES:
Council will receive clarification on the purpose, safeguards, and community impacts of the FLOCK ALPR camera program, addressing concerns raised in recent media coverage. This briefing will ensure Council is informed on how these tools enhance transparency, efficiency, and community safety.
Additionally, the DFR (Drone as a First Responder) program has recently expanded to two active pilots, providing extended coverage and improving operational availability. Three strategically positioned UAS docks are now located throughout the city, enabling faster response times to a variety of calls for service and enhancing the department’s ability to assess incidents in real time. Council support for expansion of the program to six docks prior to World Cup activities, to allow increased “up-time” to provide situational awareness and reduce overtime and staffing during the three-week event.
