III.                     DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

 

Project Purpose:

To install woody material, regrade creek banks to create backwater channels and alcoves, and revegetation of the surrounding wetlands and open areas.

 

Project description:

The project area is situated on Bear Creek directly south of NE 95th Street. The project is approximately 1.7 miles northeast of downtown Redmond.

 

The project will install 6 multi-log structures, create multiple alcoves, two backwater channels and a bank notch, in a 500-foot reach of Bear Creek downstream of NE 95th Street bridge. The project will also remove invasive vegetation off approximately 2 acres of riparian area which will be planted with native trees and shrubs. Half of the enhancements are designated as mitigation for the extended life of the NE 95th St. bridge (to be replaced by 2024), and half of the enhancements are voluntary of critical Chinook habitat.

 

 

 

 

Bid Results

 

The project was advertised in the Daily Journal of Commerce on May 15 and May 22, 2019. The City Clerk received bids until 2 pm, on May 30, 2019.

 

There were (6) bidders and the bids are summarized below:

All bidder’s unit prices, extensions and additions have been checked for accuracy and unbalanced bid items. The contractor’s references were checked and found to be acceptable. Staff recommends award to Olson Brothers Excavating Inc. the low and responsive bidder.
