OUTCOMES:
These plans guide how to prioritize public safety capital investments, personnel, equipment, and services across functional areas to implement Redmond’s vision as described in the Comprehensive Plan. Several benefits are derived from periodic updates aside from the practical matter of ensuring that the plan stays relevant and continues to prove its worth as an interface for planning, budgeting, investment, and strategic action.
A Note about the Police Functional Plan: The first Police Functional Plan was completed in 2014 and spanned to 2030, and addressed the goals of achieving standards of service, performance measures, development of professional relationships, training and equipment, community outreach, and technology. Beginning in 2019, the plan was revised, including work to integrate a more robust plan regarding technology, addressing potential needs due to the arrival of Sound Transit light rail, and including diverse feedback from community members and the department Community Equity Action Team. An earlier draft of this plan was presented to the Planning Commission on November 4, 2020.
