III.                     DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

The purpose of this amendment is to adjust the scope of work for the 2017-2018 OneRedmond Agreement.  The amended scope of work replaces the previous third contract deliverable, a parking study, with marketing Redmond and the region at three economic development industry trade shows.  This work would be conducted to perform work tasks identified as part of a separate Port of Seattle Economic Development grant to the City of Redmond that is proposed for Council action on December 5, 2017, to accept the grant.  The intention in making this adjustment is to maximally leverage the resources available to our community to support Redmond’s economic vitality.

IV.                     PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS HELD

The original OneRedmond agreement was approved by City Council on January 3, 2017.  The Council was notified about the opportunity for a second round of Port of Seattle Economic Development funding at the September 12, 2017, Planning and Public Works committee meeting.  In addition, when the Economic Development materials created from the original 2016 Port grant were shared at the September 26, 2017, Finance, Administration and Communications committee meeting, the Council was informed that the second grant application opportunity was forthcoming.  Planning staff discussed eliminating the parking study from the OneRedmond agreement at the October 10, 2017, Planning and Public Works committee meeting and taking on that body of work.

V.                     IMPACT

A.                     Service/Delivery:

Partnering with OneRedmond supports business attraction, recruitment, and retention; community building; and business partnership engagement.

B.                     Fiscal Note:

No additional funds are requested as part of this amendment.

VI.                     ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATION

The City Council could chose not to approve this amendment, which would impact the City’s timeliness in advancing the community’s economic and community development goals.

VII.                     TIME CONSTRAINTS

Timely approval of the contact amendment is needed to ensure that OneRedmond can commit to participate in tradeshows in early 2018.
