                     Other Key Facts:

Per discussions during the 2021-2022 budget process, staff had updated the Council on the declining buying power of the 2007 Public Safety Levy and the need to enhance public safety services based on future growth. Over the coming months, staff will be discussing with the City Council the funding plan elements, community feedback and highlighting a potential service package that will go to the voters in November.

OUTCOMES:

Per the conversation with Council at the February Public Safety and Human Services Committee of the Whole, staff has engaged a Public Safety Sounding Board to provide input, feedback, ideas, and recommendations relevant to the ongoing development of a Public Safety Funding Plan that may lead to a ballot measure in November. As a part of the discussions, the Police and Fire Departments, based on their strategic plans, have identified opportunities to keep pace with growth and enhance safety in Redmond.

Discussions with the Council, Community and the Public Safety Sounding Board will be ongoing for much of the year leading up to the November election (please see the milestones in Attachment B).

A variety of other communication platforms are being used to reach out to community members, including community meetings, surveys (statistically valid and questionnaires, small group meetings and website and social media postings.

                     Feedback Summary:

A summary of all feedback will be presented to Council in April and June.
