OUTCOMES:
This project will install 11 dual-port electric vehicle charging stations, 10 in the City campus parking garage and 1 at the Maintenance and Operations Center. Installing these charging stations helps support existing electric vehicles in the City fleet and sets the stage for further fleet electrification. The City’s fleet currently consists of 12 electric or plug-in electric hybrid vehicles plus 5 pieces of electric equipment. Several other electric vehicles are on order and more than 20 fleet vehicles have been identified as candidates for replacement with electric vehicles in the next two years.
Establishing electric vehicle charging infrastructure is a critical component to achieving the carbon reduction goals outlined in the Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP) as well as the City’s Zero Carbon Strategy, which targets 63 passenger vehicles being replaced with electric vehicles by 2030.
This project will also prepare the City campus parking garage to have future chargers installed more efficiently and cost effectively.
