The consultant services are crucial for timely groundwater monitoring and reporting given current staffing levels and workloads. The existing contract expires on December 31, 2024, and a new contract should be in place early in January 2025 to ensure the winter 2025 groundwater sampling event can occur at the end of January 2025.

Time Constraints:

The current groundwater monitoring on-call contract expires on December 31, 2024. In order to facilitate essential groundwater monitoring, this contract should be executed before January 1, 2025.

ANTICIPATED RESULT IF NOT APPROVED:

Without a groundwater monitoring consultant, Public Works will not be able to conduct semi-annual groundwater monitoring in the critical aquifer recharge area. The groundwater monitoring serves as a critical early warning system for Redmond’s drinking water supply wells. The supply wells provide approximately 40% of Redmond’s drinking water.
