Urban Centers Parking Management Existing Conditions Report

OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

recommendation

Redmond 2050 directs much of Redmond’s anticipated growth into Marymoor Village, Overlake Village, and the Downtown urban centers.  With the addition of higher density housing and construction of light rail stations, new parking management strategies will be needed to make efficient use of public parking resources.

The Urban Centers Parking Management project has two phases, at this Committee of the Whole meeting we will be discussing the work in progress of the first phase.

1-Document Existing Conditions: create an Existing Conditions Report of public and private parking resources in the urban centers.  Include inventory, utilization rates, and duration of parking.  Compile information and previous studies that impact parking resources from different departments.

2- Implement Parking Management Strategies: Implement relevant parking management strategies that enhance access for businesses, residents, and commuters.  Management will optimize access in and around the urban centers and support citywide goals of multimodal access as Redmond urbanizes.
