OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

recommendation

Staff recommends approving a contract with MAKERS, in the amount of $149,978, for the update of the Citywide Design standards. The work was approved in the 2025-2026 biennial budget using one-time funds and implements the Redmond 2050 Comprehensive Plan themes of sustainability, equity and inclusion, and resilience.

REQUEST RATIONALE:

 

                     Relevant Plans/Policies:

Redmond 2050 Comprehensive Plan, Chapter 21.58 of the Redmond Zoning Code, Section 21.05.200 Cultural Districts and Placemaking of the Redmond Zoning Code.

                     Required:

Council approval is required for contracts exceeding $50,000

                     Council Request:

Council funded this work in the 2025-2026 biennial budget.

OUTCOMES:

The Citywide Design Standards project is a key initiative by the city to continue to implement Redmond 2050 Comprehensive Plan priorities, streamline the code, and update illustrations. The outcome of this project is a comprehensive update to the 21.58 Community Design chapter of the Redmond Zoning Code. Tasks include code testing, code updates, illustrations, and research. Specific tasks are described in the scope of work in Attachment A.
