Approval of Final Contract with CDK Construction Services, Inc. in the Amount of $2,735,280, and Acceptance of Construction for Fire District 34 Stations 14 and 18 Seismic Upgrades

OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
recommendation
Accept the final contract with CDK Construction Services, Inc. of Duvall, Washington, for the Fire District 34 Stations 14 and 18 Seismic Upgrades project (Project Nos. 60021818 and 60021820), which had a base bid amount of $2,459,021. With change orders and line items increases and decreases, the final contract amount is $2,735,280. Staff is also asking Council to accept construction.

This project came in under budget with a savings of $316,080.

On February 20, 2018, Council approved the Project Management Service Agreement between the City and Fire Protection District 34. The agreement established that the City would manage the project in the same manner as the City manages all Public Works projects. The City received payment for costs and services in constructing and managing the project for the district. The mission of the agreement was to provide seismic upgrades to Stations 14 and 18 that go beyond "life safety" codes. The fire stations are now seismically upgraded where there is a higher level of success to be fully operational to respond to emergencies after an earthquake.
