Redmond 2050 Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement
OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
recommendation
Staff provided an overview of the Redmond 2050 Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) at the Committee of the Whole meeting on October 3, 2023. Staff asked Councilmembers to identify questions or topics they would like addressed at the October 17 staff report on this topic. The SDEIS is posted online at https://www.redmond.gov/1477/SEPA-Scoping
This Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) studies a Preferred Alternative that responds to public comments on the 2022 Draft EIS and Comprehensive Plan public engagement activities, addresses recent state legislation concerning affordable housing, and includes additional policy and regulatory drafts. The SDEIS also provides notice of intention to update the SEPA Planned Action for Overlake (under RCW 43.21C.440) and notice for SEPA infill exemptions for Downtown and Marymoor Village, per RCW 43.21C.229, and a citywide infill exemption per RCW 43.21C.229 (3) (b) (ii).
The purpose of the briefing on October 3 and staff report on October 17 is to summarize key findings of the SDEIS. The SDEIS, together with the 2022 DEIS, are meant to be used by the City Council in its decision-making on updates to the Comprehensive Plan in 2024.
