Per Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 35.34.090/35A.34.090, the legislative body, or a committee thereof, must schedule preliminary "hearings on the budget or parts thereof" prior to the final budget hearing, which must be on or before the first Monday in December.

OUTCOMES:
The Council held two public hearings on July 5, 2022 and August 16, 2022 on the proposed 2023-2028 Capital Investment Program. Both public hearings were optional. A third public hearing on property taxes and other revenue sources for the coming fiscal year, which is required under RCW 84.55.120, was held on October 18, 2022. This fourth public hearing relates to the 2023-2024 Preliminary Budget, which was presented to the City Council and made publicly available on October 4, 2022. Public hearings provide a formal opportunity for Redmond residents and business owners to give public testimony regarding the proposed budget.
