Public Safety Funding Plan Elements
OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

For Council's review and comment, in Attachment A is the Public Safety Funding Plan elements which are being discussed with the Public Safety Sounding Board. A Study Session has been scheduled for April 26th to review the Police and Fire Strategic Plans and the analysis behind the need for additional public safety resources. At the Committee meeting, staff would like Council's input on additional information they might need to facilitate a robust discussion in April.

Per discussions during the 2021-2022 budget process, staff had updated the Council on the declining buying power of the 2007 Public Safety Levy and the need to enhance public safety services based on future growth. Over the coming months, staff will be discussing with the City Council the funding plan elements, community feedback and highlighting a potential service package that will go to the voters in November.
OUTCOMES:
Per the conversation with Council at the February Public Safety and Human Services Committee of the Whole, staff has engaged a Public Safety Sounding Board to provide input, feedback, ideas, and recommendations relevant to the ongoing development of a Public Safety Funding Plan that may lead to a ballot measure in November.
