Approve the Consultant Agreement with Wilder Environmental for consultant services for the Commercial Recycling Program Outreach and Technical Assistance, in the amount of $40,000, and authorize the Mayor to sign the Agreement.

III. DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

The City of Redmond has a successful commercial organics recycling program which includes businesses and multi-family housing. Currently there are 243 accounts hauled by Waste Management. Each account may have up to three 64-gallon toters hauled twice a week at no additional charge to the customer. The toters are lined with a compostable bag after each servicing and the organics are hauled to Cedar Grove to recycle into compost.

In 2016 the commercial organics route resulted in 690 tons (1,380,000 pounds) of organics/food waste being diverted from the landfill and recycled into compost.

The objective of this agreement is to assist the City with maintaining current accounts, as well as the continued roll-out of the commercial organics recycling program by recruiting new participants, as well as assisting each business/multi-family complex with implementation.

The Contractor will assist in continuing program promotion and recruiting businesses and multi-family properties to participate in the program. The Contractor will offer tailored assistance with each business and multi-family complex that decides to participate.
