III. DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND
The Port of Seattle has approved the City's application for grant funding for targeted tradeshow participation, along with updates and new elements to the City's comprehensive marketing and media suite of materials, to enhance Redmond's economic development efforts.
The City of Redmond will work collaboratively with our partners, OneRedmond and the Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County, to implement the activities included in the Scope of Work identified in Attachment A. The grants are available through the Port of Seattle Economic Development Partnership Program to support local community economic development activities. The second year program will provide 38 King County cities per capita funding to advance local economic development throughout the region.
IV. PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS HELD
The Council was first notified about this opportunity for a second round of Port of Seattle Economic Development funding at the September 12, 2017, Planning and Public Works committee meeting. In addition, when the economic development materials created from the original 2016 Port grant were shared at the September 26, 2017, Finance, Administration and Communications committee meeting, the Council was informed that the second grant application opportunity was forthcoming.
