III. DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND
The City has made a conditional offer of appointment as the City’s Planning and Community Development Director to Ms. Erika Vandenbrande. The offer is contingent on her appointment by the Council. As a result, I am requesting that the Council confirm Ms. Vandenbrande’s appointment.
Ms. Vandenbrande started with the City of Redmond in 2001 and has held various management positions in her seventeen years with the city including Deputy City Administrator, Transportation Demand Management Manager, and Economic Development Manager. Before joining the City of Redmond, Vandenbrande held planning roles at the US Environmental Protection Agency and South Coast Air Quality Management District. She was also a manager at Southern California Association of Governments where she was responsible for developing the local government portion of the regional Air Quality Management Plan.
Erika is a graduate of the University of Rochester with a Master of Public Policy Analysis and a Bachelor degree in Geology.

A. Service/Delivery:
A delay in confirmation of a Planning and Community Development Director appointment results in continued use of interim director.
B. Fiscal Note:
Funding for this position is included in the adopted City budget.

Begin another recruitment process.

The start date for the candidate is July 3, 2018.
