III. DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND
A successful 2017-2018 Redmond Innovation Fund Proposal was awarded to install an automatic gate at the service entrance in Farrel-McWhirter Park. The gate will increase security, provide for work efficiencies, and make the entrance accessible and in compliance with American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations. The Puget Sound Energy pole that exists on park property does not fall under the City of Redmond franchise agreement as it is within the park, not the right of way. The easement will allow power to be provided to the gate from the existing pole.
o This item is an easement required to complete a successful Parks Innovation Proposal to install an automatic gate at the Service Entrance to Farrel-McWhirter Park for security, safety, and work efficiencies ($22,500 proposal) approved in 2017. A Puget Sound Energy easement is necessary to perform any work on an existing pole and to include a ground level meter to install the automatic gate.
o The pole is not in City Right-Of-Way, but approximately one foot into the park so it is not under an existing franchise agreement with City of Redmond easement
o Puget Sound Energy has agreed to the language in the attached easement.
The area has been cleared to make room for the project and the trench for the electrical has been completed and inspected. The easement needs to be in place for further work to continue....
