III.                     DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

 

On October 16, 2018, the City Council is holding the second of three public hearings on the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget. These public hearings are required under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 84.55 and RCW 35.34 allowing the community to appear and give public testimony on the upcoming budget.

 

Prior to the public hearing, staff will give a brief review of the Budgeting by Priorities (BP) process and ways for the community express their ideas about the budget. The City will hold one additional public hearing on November 20, 2018. If you have questions or need additional information, please call Kelley Cochran (425-556-2748) or Malisa Files

IV.                     PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS HELD

 

The Finance, Administration and Communications Committee reviewed the budget calendar and public hearings dates on January 23, 2018. The budget calendar and public hearing dates were formally approved by Council on February 20, 2018.

A.                     Service/Delivery:

 

Public hearings on the 2019-2020 Budget are required by state statute
(RCW 84.55 and RCW 35.34) in order to appropriate funds for the coming biennium.

VII.                     TIME CONSTRAINTS

 

A public hearing on the 2019-2020 budget needs to occur in the September-October 2018 timeframe.
