OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
recommendation
Staff is requesting approval to enter into two standing mutual aid agreements held by WSDOT to allow the City to request and receive requests for assistance in responding to emergencies. The two MAAs are for declared and un-declared emergencies. The Agreements do not obligate any agency to provide resources to others but will serve as an additional tool available for emergency response. The City's Emergency Preparedness Council has reviewed and recommended approval of these agreements.

REQUEST RATIONALE:

* Relevant Plans/Policies:
Chapter V, Section C.5 of the City's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) states "mutual aid agreements should be implemented to assure support from alternate sources" for when the City's resources have been depleted. Objective 1 of the Safe and Resilient budget priority includes using the City's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan to "guide programs and develop partnerships."
* Required:
RMC 2.20.100 grants the Mayor the power to sign, on behalf of the Emergency Preparedness Council, mutual aid agreements which have been approved by the City Council.
* Council Request:

* Other Key Facts:
Many of Redmond's neighboring cities and agencies are currently signatories to these agreements, including: King County, Bellevue, Kirkland, Sammamish, Issaquah, and Seattle Department of Transportation.
