This project is identified in the Transportation Master Plan.
• Required:
RCW 39.80 and City Purchasing Policies and Procedures requires Council authorization for the Mayor to sign the contract.

• Other Key Facts:
This is a high priority non-motorized transportation project given its proximity to the Main Microsoft Campus and the Redmond Technology Light Rail Station which are both large generators and attractors for pedestrian and bicycle trips. This project will be coordinated with similar improvements being constructed by Microsoft as part of the East Campus Refresh Project. In addition, there is Sound Transit light rail access grant funding for construction of this project.
OUTCOMES:
This project will connect into a segment of the 156th Ave NE Corridor that Microsoft will construct from NE 31st Street to NE 36th Street as part of the East Campus Refresh project. When both the City and Microsoft projects are completed there will be a continuous improved cycle track and pedestrian facility north-south on 156th Ave NE between NE 28th Street and NE 40th Street. This project will provide a low-stress bicycle facility that includes physical separation from both vehicles and pedestrians to serve the high volume of bicycle and pedestrian trips planned for this corridor.
The project will also connect into a planned north-south extension to NE 51st Street currently funded for design and a planned extension south of 28th Street. In addition, the project will connect into existing and planned east/west bicycle facilities that include: Turing/28th Street, 31st Street, 36th Street, the Redmond Technology Station Pedestrian Bicycle Bridge, and the 40th Street Shared Use Path.
