OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

City Council has been provided an update on recent activities relating to the Eastrail, which includes the Redmond Central Connector (RCC). This update included a briefing on the Eastrail fiber project and MOU among Eastrail owners and easement holders. Approval of this MOU will allow for the fiber project RFP to move forward in the fall of 2021.

Consistent with Redmond Comprehensive Plan (Utilities/Telecommunications) and consistent with policy PR-52 in the Comprehensive Plan regarding coordination with the Eastside Rail Corridor (Eastrail) RAC and planning for future utilities.

* Other Key Facts:
We are seeking City Council approval of an MOU for the Eastrail Fiber Project at the July 6, 2021 Regular Business Meeting. Redmond has already installed one, 4" conduit along RCC I and RCC II. The uncompleted section of RCC III is the only section without conduit.






OUTCOMES:

The Eastrail Fiber project will allow opportunity to install conduit and pull fiber for public/municipal uses, lease excess fiber to local businesses/residences and promote digital inclusion, smart trail, and smart city strategies.
