Approval of the Extension of the NE 60th Street Full Closure
OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Requesting City Council approval on the revised opening date for the full-street closure of NE 60th Street related to the Sound Transit Downtown Redmond Link Extension (DRLE) project. NE 60th Street will be open to two-way traffic in September 2022 with a target of the week of September 19, 2022.

A full-street closure requires City Council approval per RMC 10.24.047.

Full closure of NE 60th Street will support the schedule of opening the Sound Transit Light Rail DRLE project by 2024.
OUTCOMES:
NE 60th Street will be open to two-way traffic in September 2022 with a target of the week of September 19.
Traffic will be routed to a detour which includes NE 51st Street. This is the same detour that was used in Spring 2022.
A safe-route to Ben Rush Elementary will continue to be provided by the ADA compliant, temporary bridge to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists.

Preliminary stakeholder outreach has been undertaken with the Lake Washington School District. Broad stakeholder outreach with detour and scheduling information began on August 10 following Council notification at the Finance, Administration, and Communication Committee of the Whole meeting on August 9, 2022.
