III.                     DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

 

On June 16, 2020, the City Council will hold the first of three public hearings on the 2021- 2022 Biennial Budget. These public hearings are required under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 84.55 and RCW 35.34 allowing the community to appear and give public testimony on the upcoming budget.

 

Prior to the public hearing, staff will provide a brief review of the Budgeting by Priorities (BP) process and ways for the community to express their ideas about the budget. The City will hold two additional public hearings on October 20, 2020, and November 3, 2020, respectively.

Public hearings on the 2019-2020 Budget are required by state statute (RCW 84.55 and RCW 35.34) in order to appropriate funds for the coming biennium.
