The 2020 work plan for the Committee of the Whole - Planning and Public Works contains a quarterly Sound Transit light rail update. This staff report provides an update for the fourth quarter of 2020. Supplemental information is provided in Attachment A; presentation slides are included as Attachment B.

OUTCOMES:

Light rail will be the backbone of Redmond’s transit network when it opens in 2023 to Overlake and 2024 to Southeast Redmond and Downtown Redmond. It will provide a frequent and reliable mobility choice that connects Redmond to the region.

COMMUNITY/STAKEHOLDER OUTREACH AND INVOLVEMENT:

 

                     Timeline (previous or planned):

Winter 2020-21 outreach will focus on construction activities along SR 520 that support the construction of light rail to Southeast Redmond and Downtown.

                     Outreach Methods and Results:

Sound Transit uses in-person, print, and electronic media to notify the Redmond community about construction activities. The City relays these notifications through its communication channels.

                     Feedback Summary:

Feedback from public engagement and ballot measures consistently shows strong support for the extension of light rail to Redmond.
